# Virtnumber

> Virtnumber rents phone numbers in 14 countries. Each number receives SMS, and some can also send SMS. Numbers are managed from a web panel, a REST API, or an MCP server for AI agents. Prices are in EUR and paid from a prepaid balance, which the account owner tops up in the panel.

## For AI agents

- [MCP server](https://www.virtnumber.com/mcp): Streamable HTTP endpoint. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, discovered automatically (dynamic client registration and client ID metadata documents are both supported). Headless agents can send the account's x-api-user and x-api-token headers instead.
- Tools: get_balance, get_pricing, list_my_numbers, list_messages, wait_for_sms, buy_number, send_sms, delete_number.
- Typical flow: get_balance, then get_pricing, then buy_number, then wait_for_sms or list_messages to read incoming SMS. Agents spend the existing balance only; if it is short, the account owner tops it up in the panel.
- The account owner chooses the permissions and a spending limit for each connected app on the consent screen.
